Secrets of Cambodia

8/11 DAY TOUR FROM £1,395 PER PERSON

Cambodia surely lays claim to perhaps the most impressive monument in Asia: the Temples of Angkor. The intriguing synthesis of Hindu and Buddhist iconography at Angkor Wat, the largest religious structure in the world, could keep you spellbound for days. Angkor Thom and the mysterious smiling faces on the relief of Bayon are perhaps the best known. Yet, there is so much more to explore.

The giant tree trunks entwined within the stones and around the pillars of Ta Prohm.  There are the intricate carvings of the Women’s temple at Banteay Srei, incredible feats of craftsmanship from a pre-industrial civilisation. Our Siem Reap base allows you to revisit the temples as you wish or take an optional tour to a Buddhist pagoda to take part in a spiritual cleansing ceremony. There is chance to explore the markets of Siem Reap or pick up some authentic handicrafts at the Artisan D’Angkor workshop.

You will have the chance to see a responsible tourism initiative for Cambodian village development, with a visit to Santuk Silk Farm. In Phnom Penh there is much to admire: Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and National Museum. You will also see the dark history of the Pol Pot years at Tuol Sleng, the former school and site of Khmer Rouge atrocities in the 1970s.

Cambodia’s most sheik resort, Sihanoukville, will provide plenty of opportunity for relaxation.  It offers a pool, spa and private white sandy beach. There is the opportunity to visit Ream National Park with its terrestrial and marine habitats or the islands of Kompong Som Bay. You might understandably want to extend your Cambodia holiday or perhaps journey on to Vietnam; both tour options are there for you to take.
