The Very Best of South Africa

What could be a better tour combination than the wildlife, cities and wine country of South Africa? Your luxury escorted tour will begin with an undoubted highlight, the enchanting Cape Town. There is the opportunity to tour Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela spent his incarceration before leading the new South Africa. You can also delve further into its rich history in the Malay Quarter and visits to the Houses of Parliament and the Castle of Good Hope, the oldest colonial building in Africa.

Your luxury tour also includes the urban highlights of Pretoria with its monuments and museums and Soweto. You will have a chance to learn more of South Africa’s recent history at the excellent Apartheid Museum. The intriguing flora and fauna of the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens framed against the stunning backdrop of Table Mountain. The rugged coastal scenery of the Cape Peninsula National Park will amaze. Get close up with the world’s most northerly colony of penguins at Boulders Beach.

You will venture down the magnificent Garden Route with its ever-changing scenery of farmland, mountains, lakes and ocean views.  There is a first chance to see South Africa’s big cats at the Cheetah Conservation Centre en route. Your luxury tour will take you to the ostrich farms in Oudsthoorn, where you can experience these wondrous birds face-to-face.  You will then travel to the Swartberg Mountains and nearby the limestone labyrinth of the Cango Caves formed more than 20 million years ago.

Then there is that much anticipated highlight: the Cape Winelands!  Fantastic wine estates in the region offer vineyard tours and the chance to indulge a little from your pretty 17th century base of Franschoek founded by French Hugenot settlers. The safari adventure starts at the Kapama Game Reserve. There will be plenty of opportunities, including jeep safari rides to spot all of Africa’s big five – the African elephant, buffalo, rhinoceros, lion and leopard.  If your luxury escorted tour includes the optional Zambia extension, you will enjoy the magnificent and mighty Zambezi River Victoria Falls in equal measure. Your luxury escorted tour to South Africa will bring you an experience that shows you the best of this fascinating and beautiful country.
