Medieval Russia Extension - Extend Your Holiday

Available on: Russian Reflections

We always aim to balance the duration, sights, free time and travel time within a tour to reflect the experience we know our customers want. However, we also see the end of your tour as a new starting point, and give you the opportunity to continue your adventure with a tour extension. If you have any questions, you can chat to your
Personal Travel Advisor.

Day 1 St Petersburg to Veliky Novgorod
Leaving St Petersburg in your air-conditioned vehicle, you’ll embark on a four hour road trip to experience a completely different side of Russia. You’ll venture out of the city to one of Russia’s oldest sites, founded in the 9th
century. En route, you’ll have an opportunity to see a rural way of life, in stark contrast to the opulence of the two capital cities. Once you arrive, you’ll check in to your hotel overlooking the River Volkhov, which blends modern architecture with ancient traditions.
Hotel: Park Inn.

Day 2 Veliky Novgorod
Nowhere else in Russia can rival Novgorod for medieval history. The foremost monuments in the area include the 11th century cathedral of St Sophia as well as the 15th century bell tower and the clock tower, dating to 1673, which are both the oldest in Russia. The Novgorod Kremlin, traditionally known as the Detinets, also contains Russia’s most ancient palace, called the Chamber of the Facets, which served as the main meeting hall of the archbishops and
dates to 1433. You’re free to explore at your own pace, however, if you’d prefer, we’ll happily arrange a sightseeing tour with a professional local guide.
Meals: Breakfast.
Hotel: Park Inn.

Day 3 Veliky Novgorod to Heathrow
After breakfast, you’ll journey back to St Petersburg airport for your early evening return flight.
Meals: Breakfast, In-flight.
