Many visitors see a certain region of Italy yet miss out on others, however Italy is surprisingly diverse and each area offers something different. A grand tour of Italy offers a way to see many sides of this beautiful country.

Italy has become one of the fastest growing countries for tourism with a wealth of history dating back to the Roman Empire, Renaissance and Napoleonic Wars. The capital city Rome hosts an abundance of monuments and museums, including the Vatican and Colloseum. Venice stretches along the Adriatic Sea, across 117 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon . The main attractions include St Mark's Basilica, the Grand Canal, and the Piazza San Marco.

Where is Italy
With a long Mediterranean coastline, beautiful serene central valleys, exciting cities, the dramatic lakes and mountains of the north and timeless villages, Italy enjoys possibly a perfect location in Europe.

Italian Cuisine
The food of Italy is of course famous around the world. However it is only by visiting the country that you will experience the true flavours and variety of Italian cuisine. In Italy each region offers something different and Italians are passionate about using local crops in their dishes. Pasta, seafood, hearty meat dishes, delicious snacks and great wine – Italy’s food is a highlight in itself.

Currency

The currency used in Italy is Euros. Money can be changed in hotels, banks and foreign exchange bureaus. Credit cards are widely accepted.

Passport and visa

A full 10-year passport is required for all travel abroad and your passport should be valid until 6 months after your date of travel. For UK citizens, it is not necessary to obtain visas.

Climate/season

The weather in Italy is temperate. Italy is warm in the summer with occasional rain areas of the country can be humid whist other areas are hot and dry. Winter months can be cold damp and foggy.

Electricity

220 volts and 50 Hz. Italy has 2 pin wall sockets you will require a European adaptor.

Health and Vaccinations

There are no compulsory immunisations for travel to Italy however it is a good idea to make sure you are up to date with all your normal vaccinations such as polio and tetanus. Please consult your GP or specialist vaccination centre for more detailed inf

Clothing

Light to medium weight clothing is advised with a light cardigan or jacket for the evening time.
Rainwear is also advisable.
