Where is Croatia
Croatia lies on the Adriatic sea, bordered by Austria and Slovenia to the north and the Balkan neighbours of Bosnia and Montenegro. Just a two hour flight from the UK, it offers a part of the Mediterranean untouched by mass tourism yet with so much to offer.
Croatian cuisine
Along the Dalmatian coast and the many offshore islands, cuisine is very much Mediterranean in flavour, with excellent seafood at great value – try fresh oysters straight from the sea or succulent fish fillets. Another renowned dish is Dalmatian Lamb, fed on fresh herbs for a distinctive taste, and Italian food is on offer across the country. Good quality local red and white wine is great value, and Croatians enjoy meeting up over coffee in the numerous pavement cafés.
