Climate & Weather Watch:

Generally hot, particularly between mid-February and June. The monsoon season runs from May to October, when the climate is still hot with torrential rains. The best time for travelling is November through to February.

Clothing:

Lightweight cottons and linens. An umbrella or light raincoat is recommended.

Currency & Money Matters:

Thailand 's currency comprises of Thai Baht and satangs. We recommend any money taken should be mainly in travellers cheques for security. A small amount of Thai Baht would be useful for drinks etc. before you are able to exchange money locally. Currency can be converted at banks, hotels, and foreign exchanges. All major international credit cards are acceptable.

Passports & Visas:

Full ten year passports are required for all visitors to Thailand and must be valid for six months after you return to the UK . Visa's are not required for British Citizens staying less than 21days.

Immunisation:

Not compulsory although we would recommend that you contact your usual medical consultant.

Medication:

Should be carried in hand luggage. Passengers taking needles/syringes should carry a letter from their General Practitioner. All medication should be carried in original packaging with the dispensing label securely attached. Airline check-in staff should be advised the type of medication being carried and they will give further instructions regarding proceeding through security screening.

Customs:

The following goods may be imported into Thailand without incurring customs duty: 200 cigarettes or 250g of tobacco; 1 litre of wine or spirits; and goods to the value of Baht 10,000.

Please note: There are restrictions on the export of items of archaeological interest or historical value without a certificate of authorisation from the Department of Fine Arts in Thailand , and also a total prohibition on the export of images of Buddha.

Airport Taxes:

Have been included in the cost of your holiday.

Medical Facilities:

Health insurance is strongly recommended. Medical facilities are generally good. The majority of hotels have doctors on call. It is also advisable not to drink the tap water and buy bottled water which is widely available.

Tipping:

Most hotels will add a 10% service charge and an 11% Government tax to the bill. Taxi drivers are not tipped.

Driving:

Car hire is not recommended !

Taxis:

Taxis are generally plentiful in Bangkok and are unmetered. Passengers must negotiate their price before getting in. Local Tuk-Tuks are also available for those requiring a little adventure!

Electricity:

220 volts AC, 50Hz. A variety of plug and light fittings are in use.
